Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) Services- Threat Resolution Ltd

Oil and mineral exploration, as well as property and infrastructure development often involves tracts of land and facilities that have been previously been:

  • Used as military ranges.
  • Mined with AP and A/TK mines.
  • Subjected to combat activity.
  • Used for terrorist activities.
  • Used to store ammunition and explosives.
Exploration and development will inevitably involve intrusive operations that have the potential to disturb residual ordnance and result in a preventable incident or accident.

The purpose of a UXO Safety Audit is to provide customers with a risk mitigation strategy and provide a high degree of confidence that the area is free from unexploded ordnance and other stray explosive items.

A UXO Safety Audit will typically involve historical research into the previous use of the land and the documentation of the identifed threats. A physical and/or electronic search would then normally be appropriate to locate and destroy surface or near surface UXO's.

Finally, training in UXO recognition and the production of procedures to be used in the event of discovery of a UXO's during exploration or development operations will be provided to the customer.
