Research and assessment into explosives and weapons related issues is often a vital prerequisite to demilitarization, disarmament and destruction programs, especially where resources and funding need to be identified. Research services include the examination of local administrative and technical resources, security, financial and logistics issues. The outcome of this investigative approach can be utilized to produce risk management strategies and as a basis for invitations to tender for contracts.

Needs Assessment is a structured process used to ask the question, "How can I find out what is really needed ?" Needs assessment is the first step in identifying the best method of providing assistance, training or resources. This activity must be conducted on the ground, at the heart of the problem in a logical and controlled manner.

Research and Needs Assessment are also vital prerequisites to the provision of government, charity and NGO programs of assistance. It is especially required in war-torn regions and post conflict situations where there are security issues that must be factored into solution proposals. Research and Needs Assessment are vital to ensure that assistance programs are effective and that risk to financial resources is minimized.

The type of research our consultants are experienced in is:

  • Weapons trafficking.
  • Weapons in exchange for development programs.
  • Designing of national plans of action for addressing demilitarization and demobilization.
  • Explosive Remnants of War (EROW) issues.
  • Desktop and field UXO surveys.
